Jeremy recently headed out on a Red Sea Liveaboard experience, here he tells us what a liveaboard experience is all about and what you can expect on one of these fabulous experience holidays.<\/p>\n

What is a liveaboard<\/h4>\n

Liveaboard diving holidays are a great option for divers who want to get the most out of their scuba diving underwater adventure.<\/p>\n

Considered by many divers to be the ultimate scuba diving experience, liveaboards are something every scuba diver\u00a0must\u00a0do at least once in their lifetime especially considering the amazing dive destinations you can only reach by a liveaboard trip.<\/p>\n

How is this different from traditional scuba diving? Quite simply, you can eat, sleep, relax and dive for multiple days at a time when on liveaboard trips<\/p>\n<\/div>

Deco Divers<\/h4>\n

I have waited for some time to join Deco divers and Ahmed Mamdouh (Sharky) on one of his liveaboards and chose his BDE (Brothers, Deadalus and Elphinstone) trip.<\/p>\n

I have dived with many liveaboard operators but as Deco Divers are a supplier I wanted to share my first hand experience for you.<\/p>\n

The reason I chose BDE, Red Sea southbound trip, was due to the amount of pelagic activity that had been reported by Deco Divers from previous trips.<\/p>\n

Sharky was also hosting one of his Shark Workshops on board which ran over a few nights and was an amazing insight into the behaviour of sharks, more on that later<\/p>\n<\/div>

Travelling<\/h4>\n

I left not so sunny England on Friday 11th November, flying Easyjet to Hurghada in Egypt. I arrived after a 5 1\/2 flight into glorious 30 degree heat and the organised chaos that is Hurghada Airport.<\/p>\n

The first thing you need to do is buy a visa, which costs $25 from one of the kiosks. The visa will be put into you passport for the customs men to stamp on the way out.<\/p>\n

After collecting my bags I went to the Vodaphone counter to buy a SIM card. I chose Vodaphone as they have the best deals and best coverage. \u00a0It cost me \u00a315.00 for 50Gb, so more than enough data to send all the photos and videos back to the UK.<\/p>\n

As soon as I left arrivals I was bombarded with \u2018taxi taxi taxi\u2019!! All in good humour and agreed on \u20ac10.00 fare for the journey from the airport to Hurghada (Euros are king in Egypt, but the everyone accepts EGP, Euros, Dollars or sterling).<\/p>\n

A side note, Uber works perfectly in Hurghada. I got dropped off at my hotel, The Sky View Suites hotel close to the Marina, appx 20 minute walk to the Marina.<\/p>\n

The hotel cost $46 per night bed and breakfast, it was clean and perfectly acceptable, no complaints there. In the evening I ate at the hotel as was recovering a bit from the flight and heat of course, and the food was perfectly fine.<\/p>\n

In the morning I had a walk down the hill to Hurghada Marina and had a touristy wonder around, lots of restaurants to choose from, I have a favourite called the Lounge which cooks amazing steaks, I had a fillet steak, simply delicious. You could also have Camel, Ostrich or Goat !!!! (Try the Camel it\u2019s not too bad) the cost was 245LE for a steak (approx \u00a38.50 !!!!!) a bargain. After a meal I headed back to hotel and met some of the divers at the Mamhya Beach Lounge.<\/p>\n

One of the Deco team met up with us at lunch and we all then \u00a0transferred to an arranged bus to collect the remaining divers and headed to the mooring.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Liveaboard<\/h4>\n

Once on board all the divers met up and we all got to know each other, a great evening meeting people from France, Egypt, Slovakia, UK, Germany and Spain.<\/p>\n

We all bonded pretty quickly and had an amazing dinner.<\/p>\n

The food on the liveaboard was unbelievable, freshly cooked every meal with an array of tastes and flavours. The kitchen staff soon adapted if one person didn\u2019t like or couldn\u2019t eat a certain food group, just amazing.<\/p>\n

We all hit the hay afterwards. \u00a0I was bunking with a French lad called Killian who was the perfect roommate, well apart from his \u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

The cabins were perfectly sized for sharing and comfortable, and trust me after 3 intense dives a day, once your head hits that pillow you were gone.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The diving<\/h4>\n

Sunday 13th November we\u00a0departed Hurghada and headed to Small Giftun where we would conduct our first dive \/ check dive.<\/p>\n

Small Giftun is\u00a0about 1 hour sailing from Hurghada\u00a0and is a dive site specially made for drift dives.<\/p>\n

With the current carrying you, this dive is a relaxing exploration of the beautiful corals.<\/p>\n

Once the check dive was completed, we headed back to the boat for lunch and prepared ourselves for the afternoon dive known as the\u00a0\u201cPolice Station\u201d, this was a lovely drift dive and a great way to start the adventure.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Team Names<\/h4>\n

As we were 24 divers on the Galaxy, the Deco team split us into 3 teams of 8 divers and we were left to our own \u201cmaturity\u201d to think of names.<\/p>\n

Lets just say we were called after a Quentin Tarantino film\u2026..lets leave this here.\u00a0 Our team was an awesome mix of nationalities and characters and included:<\/p>\n
