World class mobula and pelagic encounters

All-Inclusive Azores Liveaboard Dive Trips, Tailored by Divers

Rising from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the 亞速爾群島 form a remote volcanic archipelago located where three tectonic plates collide. This isolated position, combined with clear Atlantic waters and nutrient-rich currents, makes the Azores one of Europe’s most important pelagic hotspots.

The region is best known for offshore seamount diving, where migrating marine life gathers in open water. Expect encounters with large schools of mobula rays, blue sharks, tuna, and occasional whale sharks, alongside regular sightings of whales and dolphins throughout the season.

我們的 Azores dive holidays focus on offshore seamounts and are carefully planned by Sea to Sky, working with experienced local operators to deliver safe, well-timed liveaboard expeditions in the open Atlantic.

Many of the Azores’ most iconic dive sites lie far offshore, making them difficult to access by day boat. Long crossings from land can limit dive time and flexibility.

Sea to Sky works with Water and Wind to offer a liveaboard-based approach that places divers directly on site. By operating from a small sailing catamaran, dives can be scheduled around conditions, tides, and marine activity rather than boat transit times.

This allows us to manage the logistics of offshore diving in the Azores, so you can focus on blue-water encounters and high-quality dives at Europe’s most legendary seamounts.

您將會喜歡:

  • Offshore seamount diving in the open Atlantic
  • Large, predictable aggregations of mobula rays
  • Regular encounters with blue sharks and pelagic fish
  • Small-group diving from a liveaboard base
  • A true sense of space and isolation rarely found in European diving

菲洛梅娜補充道:

“The Azores feel wild and open. You’re diving far from land, watching pelagic life move through the blue, and every day feels dictated by the ocean rather than a timetable.”

Where You Will Dive in the Azores

Where You Will Dive in the Azores

Azores diving centres around offshore seamounts and volcanic formations that rise steeply from depths of over 1,000 metres, concentrating pelagic life in predictable areas.

Dives are typically conducted in blue water, often using reference lines or natural features to maintain position. Comfort in open-ocean conditions and good situational awareness are essential.

When to Dive the Azores Islands, Portugal

When to Dive the Azores Islands, Portugal

The Azores diving season is shaped by Atlantic conditions and the arrival of migrating species.

  • July to September
This is the peak season. Water temperatures reach 22–24°C, visibility is at its best, and mobula ray aggregations are most reliable. Whale shark sightings are most likely during this period.

  • June and October
Shoulder months offer fewer visitors and slightly cooler water. Conditions can be more variable, but resident pelagic life remains present and offshore sites are still accessible.
