Myanmar’s Mergui Archipelago boasts some of the most amazing, unspoilt dive sites in all of south-east Asia.
Little-known as a diving destination, Myanmar is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the top dive destinations in Southeast Asia. The Mergui Archipelago and the Burma Banks are a collection of more than 800 individual islands located in the Andaman Sea, belonging to Myanmar. Most of the islands and surrounding areas are completely uninhabited and remote. With a rich and diverse marine ecosystem untouched by tourism and left in isolation for many years it can offer some truly spectacular liveaboard diving.
The islands remain almost entirely uninhabited save for the odd Burmese sea gypsies. This off-the-beaten-track diving destination is made mostly from limestone (ensuring there are plenty of caves and tunnels) and a few granite pinnacles circled by a wide diversity of corals of beautiful colour.
Corals, Sharks, Eagles Rays, Turtles…
Diving in the Andaman Sea around Myanmar gives you the possibility to come face to face with species like whale sharks, manta rays, and barracudas. On the macro front there are: frogfish, many types of nudibranchs, crabs and shrimps, as well as seahorses. Different kinds of sharks also populate the area; with blacktip and nurse sharks often swim along divers.
With gorgeous underwater landscapes consisting of isolated pinnacles, caves, soft and hard corals, incredibly rich wildlife and exclusive dive sites, the Mergui Archipelago offers some truly breath-taking diving.

The Phinisi
The Phinisi is a traditional Indonesian sailing yacht offering liveaboard dive holidays in Thailand and Myanmar, comfortably accommodating 18 divers.
She boasts a spacious dive deck with plenty of storage space for all of your dive gear. The outdoor dining area at the stern is covered and shaded so you can fully take in the breath-taking views of Thailand and Myanmar. Every day, our chef prepares plenty of dishes from the famous Thai cuisine with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
7 Nights and 10 Nights Itinerary Mergui Archipelago
Embarkation
Ranong is a 5-hour transfer by minivan from Phuket. We provide a free transfer from Phuket to Ranong with two specific pick up times and locations in Phuket to arrive in Ranong at 11:00 on embarkation day.
Transfers between Ranong Airport* or a Ranong hotel and The Phinisi on embarkation and disembarkation days are also included in the liveaboard price.
*Guests flying into Ranong on embarkation day MUST book a flight that arrives no later than 11:00 am.
Transfers from and to hotels and resorts outside of the specified pick up locations can be arranged for an additional charge.
Marine Park & Port Fees:
- 7 nights: 280 USD per person
10 nights: 350 USD per person
Marine park and port fees will be added to your invoice to be paid on board.
Itinerary Details
This itinerary involves some long distance travel and, whilst we attempt to ensure the number of planned dives is fulfilled, bad weather and sea conditions can affect the boat’s ability to reach a specific dive site in good time and may impact on the number of dives that are possible.
There is no diving on embarkation day.

While we wish to show you the very best diving possible, the safety of all on board remains paramount. In the unlikely event we are unable to reach a specified dive site we always do our best in offering diving at alternative locations. The following are some of the dive sites that we may visit during your liveaboard.

- North Twin and South Twin
- Black Rock
- Three Islets
- Sea Fan Forest
- Western Rocky
- Little Torres Island (10 nights only)
- Tower Rock (10 nights only)
Minimum dive certification and experience
Diving in Myanmar can often be challenging, especially for inexperienced divers. There can be tough conditions with strong currents and reduced visibility due to an influx of nutrients at certain dive sites which may make the diving unsuitable for entry level divers or those who have not dived in similar conditions before.
Divers wishing to join this itinerary are advised to have Advanced Open Water certification*, or equivalent, with a minimum of 30 logged dives and experience in strong currents.
*Advanced Open Water Course can usually be completed on board.
Guests who do not fulfil the minimum certification and experience requirements may be denied participation in some or all dives.
It is a mandatory requirement for all divers to have insurance which covers scuba diving activities, including emergency evacuation and recompression chamber costs.
