FAQs

Yes! Egypt is one of the best places in the world to learn to dive. With warm, clear waters we offer PADI & SSI courses throughout the region. It’s ideal for beginners taking their Open Water course or trying a Discover Scuba experience.

Absolutely. Most dive centres in Egypt cater to all experience levels and offer thorough briefings, shallow reef dives, and close supervision – making it a safe and supportive environment for new divers.

It depends on what you’re looking for. The SS Thistlegorm is world-famous for wreck diving, while Ras Mohammed, Elphinstone, and The Brothers offer stunning coral walls, marine life, and deep drift dives.

In summer, a 3mm shorty or full suit is often enough. In winter (Dec–Feb), a 5mm full wetsuit is more comfortable as water temperatures can drop to around 22°C. Many divers wear hoods or added protections in the cooler months.

It’s strongly recommended. Most liveaboards and dive centres ask for proof of dive insurance. Policies from providers like DAN or DiveAssure offer good coverage for diving-related incidents, including evacuation and chamber treatment.

In our opinion, Marsa Shagra, with its 5 km of pristine reef, is a standout destination, while the Brothers Islands and Daedalus Reef are among our favourite dive sites.

There are lots of options out there, but it’s worth booking through a company that specialises in diving, not just travel.

At Sea to Sky, we curate dive holidays based on real experience – we are divers – including the resorts, liveaboards and dive centres we’ve personally used. Whether you’re learning to dive or heading to the deep south, we’ll help you plan a safe, seamless and memorable Red Sea trip.

“The trip was organised by Jeremy at Sea to Sky. His attention to detail through the booking process, right through to his first hand knowledge of the dive sites was superb. It led to the holiday being truly relaxed, and wanting a teenager to come back with her friends for a diving course.”
