The Sardine Run – Panagsama
Just offshore from Panagsama Beach, millions of sardines gather year-round in a shimmering bait ball. Dropping in here places you inside a constantly shifting wall of fish… peaceful, mesmerising and exhilarating all at once. Predators such as trevallies and jacks often hunt the edges, with occasional shark sightings.
Filomena adds: “It’s such a gentle, magical spot – I could spend hours drifting in the lagoon with a camera.”
Pescador Island – Walls & Caverns
A short boat ride from Moalboal brings you to Pescador Island, a protected marine sanctuary off the coast of Cebu. Known for towering walls, swim-throughs and cathedral-like formations, it’s rich with turtles, sea snakes, schooling fish and excellent macro along vertical drop-offs.
Filomena adds: “The walls at Pescador are stunning… beautiful light, great visibility, and something new to spot every time.”
Magic Island House Reef
Right in front of the resort, Magic Island’s house reef offers wonderfully convenient diving. The reef slopes gently before dropping to around 50 metres, making it ideal for relaxed afternoon and night dives. Frogfish, ghost pipefish, mandarin fish, nudibranchs and resident turtles are regular highlights.
Jeremy adds:
“Being able to finish a dive and walk straight back to your room is one of Moalboal’s real luxuries.”

Tongo Point is a favourite for easy drift dives over sloping reefs rich in hard corals and small critters. Turtles are frequent visitors, alongside cuttlefish, frogfish and colourful nudibranchs. Suitable for all experience levels and a great introduction to Moalboal’s reef diving.
Filomena adds:
“It’s a relaxed, beautiful dive – perfect for slowing down and really looking closely”
