All-Inclusive Maldives Liveaboards, Curated by Divers
The Maldives is a nation of 1,000 islands strung across the Indian Ocean – manta cleaning stations, whale sharks, and shark-filled channels are the daily rhythm here. A liveaboard is the best way to see it all, reaching remote reefs and dawn channel dives that day boats can’t.
From drifting past whale sharks in South Ari to snorkelling among hundreds of mantas in Hanifaru Bay, every itinerary promises unforgettable encounters. With Sea to Sky, your trip is planned end-to-end – flights, transfers, boat, diving, and insider advice – so you can just dive in.

Hanifaru Bay (Baa Atoll)
Maamigili (South Ari Atoll)
Maamigili Beyru Reef (Alif Dhaalu Atoll)
Southern Ari Atoll (administrative region)
Athuruga Island, Ari Atoll
Central Atolls (North & South Male, Ari, Vaavu, Rasdhoo)
The Maldives’ “classic loop,” perfect for first-time visitors. Expect manta cleaning stations, whale sharks, shark-filled channels and accessible wrecks.
- Classic Central Atolls Loop – manta cleaning stations, near-constant whale shark sightings, wreck dives like Machchafushi and Alimatha Jetty. Best enjoyed year-round.
- Sharktastic Itinerary – adds in shark-rich channels and a famous night dive with nurse & blacktip sharks at Alimatha, plus whale sharks in South Ari. Best Jan-Apr.
Jeremy’s tip: “South Ari’s Maamigili Reef is one of the best places on Earth to meet whale sharks — don’t forget to look up on your safety stop.”
Quieter routes with beautiful reefs, regular manta stations, and the chance of whale sharks without the crowds.
- Northern Highlights Itinerary – relaxed diving, peaceful reefs, and consistent manta encounters. Great choice year-round.
- Manta-Ray Focused Itinerary – journeys through Raa and Baa, ending at Hanifaru Bay, where hundreds of mantas gather between June and October (especially around full and new moons).
Filomena adds: “Hanifaru Bay is unlike anywhere else — being surrounded by spiralling mantas is a moment you’ll never forget.”
For advanced divers and shark enthusiasts, the deep south is raw, remote, and exhilarating.
- Deep South & Shark-Centric Expeditions – reliable tiger shark encounters at Fuvahmulah, plus hammerheads and oceanic mantas. Prime time: Jan-Mar.
- South Central Atolls Adventure – combines Meemu, Thaa, Laamu and Huvadhoo for reef sharks, manta stations, and night whale sharks. Remote and diverse. Best Jan-Mar.
Jeremy’s tip: “Currents in the south bring everything to life – from swirling reef sharks in the channels to big animals cruising past in the blue.”
Remote Atoll Adventures (Meemu, Thaa, Laamu, Huvadhoo)
Far fewer boats, untouched reefs, night dives with nurse sharks, and mantas circling cleaning stations. January-March is the sweet spot.
Jeremy says: “Laamu feels wild and remote. It’s a favourite for divers who want to escape the crowds”

Best Time to Dive in the Maldives
The Maldives is a year-round destination – warm water (26-29°C) and tropical sunshine mean there’s never a bad month to visit, but each season offers something different:

Life Onboard a Liveaboard
Life Onboard a Liveaboard
Life on a Maldives liveaboard is simple: dive, eat, relax, repeat.
- Diving: Up to 3–4 dives per day, from drifts to night dives.
- Comfort: Modern cabins, sun decks, fresh meals, and Maldivian hospitality.
- Between dives: Watch dolphins from the bow, nap on the sundeck, or swap stories over coffee.
Safety First
Most liveaboards require:
- A dive computer for every diver
- A surface marker buoy (SMB) on all dives
- Reef hooks for drifts in strong currents
- Dive insurance (e.g. DAN or equivalent)
Jeremy adds: “These are standard here — and once you’ve done your first drift hooked in, you’ll see why.”

“The trip was organised by Jeremy at Sea to Sky. His attention to detail through the booking process, right through to his first hand knowledge of the dive sites was superb. It led to the holiday being truly relaxed, and wanting a teenager to come back with her friends for a diving course.”
“I had already 2 trips with Sea to Sky and I can warmly recommend this company! Friendly people best organisation and professional diving trips. With Sea to Sky you are in very good hands and your holidays are worth booking.”
“I’d been looking for a trip that blended site seeing, diving, great locale and authentic restaurants and can not recommend this company enough. Travelling as a single person in a new country can daunting, but Sea to Sky made my travels easier than I could have expected”
