Diving Holidays in Komodo National Park, Indonesia

High-energy drift dives, manta encounters and raw island wilderness

All-Inclusive Komodo Dive Trips, Tailored by Divers

All-Inclusive Komodo Dive Trips, Tailored by Divers

Where the Indian and Pacific Oceans meet, Komodo National Park delivers some of the most dynamic diving on the planet. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this remote corner of Indonesia is known for dramatic underwater topography, dense marine life and powerful currents that fuel extraordinary biodiversity.

While Komodo is famous for its dragons on land, it is the underwater world that truly defines the experience. Expect fish-filled pinnacles, fast-paced drift dives and manta cleaning stations that regularly host multiple rays at once. Sea to Sky dive holidays in Komodo are designed to give you maximum time in the park, with carefully planned itineraries that prioritise quality dives and low-impact exploration.

Komodo is not a destination to approach casually. Strong currents, changing conditions and timing-sensitive dive sites mean the right planning and local knowledge are essential.

Sea to Sky works with experienced, eco-focused operators who know the park intimately. By basing our trips on the edge of the national park rather than in the busy town of Labuan Bajo, we reduce travel time, avoid peak crowds and give you flexibility to dive the best sites at the right moment.

You will benefit from:

  • Early access to the park ahead of day boats
  • Experienced guides who understand Komodo’s currents
  • Carefully selected dive sites based on daily conditions
  • A quieter, more immersive base close to the action

Jeremy adds:

“If you are new to strong currents, let us know in advance. Komodo is incredible, but choosing the right sites on the right day makes all the difference.”

A Typical Diving Day in Komodo

A Typical Diving Day in Komodo

Diving days begin early to ensure entry into Komodo National Park before day boats arrive from Labuan Bajo. This gives flexibility to adjust plans based on conditions and reduces crowding at key sites.

The evening before, breakfast orders are taken and served on the boat during the journey to the first dive, alongside tea, coffee and water. Detailed briefings are given before every dive, covering currents, marine life and safety.

The entire day is spent in the park, with lunch served after the second dive. Dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options can be accommodated. Boats typically return to the resort between 4:30 and 5:30 pm, in time for a snack, a cold drink and sunset views.

When to Dive in Komodo National Park

When to Dive in Komodo National Park

Komodo is a year-round diving destination, with seasonal variation shaping the experience.

  • April to November: Best visibility and calmer surface conditions, particularly in the north and central park. Water temperatures range from 26 to 29°C.

  • December to March: Short periods of rain and cooler water in the south. Plankton blooms attract large numbers of manta rays, making this the prime season for manta encounters.

Beyond the Diving

Beyond the Diving

Time on land adds another layer to the Komodo experience.

  • Komodo Dragons: Ranger-led walks on Rinca or Komodo Island offer the chance to see these animals in their natural habitat.
  • Padar Island: A hike to the summit delivers one of Indonesia’s most iconic views across multiple bays.
  • Pink Beach: A rare shoreline coloured by crushed red coral, ideal for relaxing between dives.
