Diving Holidays in Utila, Honduras

Whale shark encounters, Caribbean reefs and laid-back island diving

All-Inclusive Utila Lodge Dive Trips, Tailored by Divers

All-Inclusive Utila Lodge Dive Trips, Tailored by Divers

Located on the southern edge of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, Utila is one of the Caribbean’s most distinctive dive destinations. Small in size but globally recognised, the island is best known for its seasonal whale shark encounters, dramatic wall diving and relaxed, community-led dive culture.

Unlike larger resort destinations, Utila offers direct access to deep water just minutes from shore. This proximity creates a rare mix of coral reef ecosystems and open-ocean encounters, making it one of the most accessible places in the world to experience pelagic marine life.

Our Utila dive holidays are centred around Utila Lodge, an over-water dive lodge positioned directly above the reef and in the heart of the island’s dive community.

Utila is not a polished resort destination. It is raw, authentic and driven by its diving heritage. Getting there requires planning, and knowing where to stay and dive makes a significant difference to the experience.

Sea to Sky works directly with Utila Lodge and its on-site dive operation to provide a seamless, fully managed trip.

You will benefit from:

  • Direct access to whale shark aggregation zones on the north side
  • Over-water accommodation with immediate dive boat access
  • Small group diving with experienced local guides
  • Integrated training through a PADI Career Development Centre
  • Full travel coordination including flights, ferry and transfers

Jeremy adds:

“Utila is one of those places that still feels like diving used to. It’s simple, focused and all about time in the water. When the whale sharks show up, everything else stops.”

Where You Will Dive in Utila

Where You Will Dive in Utila

Utila offers more than 60 dive sites, split between calm southern reefs and the exposed, pelagic-rich north side. Conditions are generally accessible, but the variety allows for both relaxed diving and more advanced profiles.

The island’s unique topography means many sites are reached within minutes, with steep walls, seamounts and deep blue water sitting close to shore. This creates ideal conditions for both reef exploration and open-water encounters, with the possibility of pelagic species appearing on almost any dive.
